4rth Fest – Independence Day – State College, PA – July 4rth, 2011

I’ve been a fan of fireworks since, like well – forever.. During our annual family trip to Massachusetts, my poor parents and elder siblings had to endure repeated calls of “fireworks” when we crossed the Georgia/Carolina border heading north from Florida.   Lab mates in high school chemistry class were exposed, no doubt to greater-than-currently allowed risks as I personally explored the wonders of oxidizers and various reactants.

Fireworks – they’re great.. that, and Band Concerts! What a joy spending Saturday nights at the Petersham Band Shell.. Freshly made popcorn, cold, cold water pumped at the town well, and concert goers honking their approval as they enjoyed the concert from their cars.  Running around, free at night in the night around the bright lights of the band shell.

Well – my dear “nourishing mother” - PSU – has taken that joyful combination and brought it forward. What a wonderful experience was had last Monday afternoon and evening..  here’s a tiny sample:
